It has been a while since our last blog post which fortunately resonates in us being extremely busy. We have been working on some some fantastic new projects which have seen us shooting Michelin standard cuisine from the highest point in the city of London to working on imagery for Coca-Cola in conjunction with our food industry clients. Meanwhile back in the studio we have been working through some great product work producing imagery for new F1 team MaRussia for there merchandising website.

This month we are thrilled to have been selected via Tender to produce imagery for one of the countries leading house builders working on a huge portfolio of work. We are also in the process of signing off a huge composition piece we have put together in conjunction with our resident retouch expert which involves a jungle scene and 3 troops. We have lots of work to blog with a good stock of behind the scenes imagery showing the lighting setups and the rest of us behind the scenes doing are thing and looking studious!

Frasershot Photography has just completed a new shoot with Chef Alyn Williams of The Westbury Hotel, Mayfair. This is part 2 of a series we started in Dec 2011 working with some of the industries leading talent. The Westbury is an amazing new restaurant which is beautifully designed and showcases some really interesting features which is both Quirky and Impressive. Newly opened in Jan 2012 and already receiving great reviews.

We arrived early on the day of the shoot and were given a private dining area in the restaurant to set up the studio ready for the food photography. We had already agreed a brief and mood board with the client to ensure the style was in keeping with the food etc.

I have pulled out one image from the shoot which I feel really sums up the style and interpretation of what Alyn Williams is doing in the industry.

The imagery was created using 2 x Profoto Proboxes and reflectors with silver cards and a Profoto Pro head with 10 degree grid. Files were shot on the Hasselblad H3d31 with 120mm lens shot tethered to Macbook Pro.

The shot below which held fantastic colour was a combination of redcap mushrooms and snails which I can say first hand was absolutely fantastic! please check the blog as a behind the scenes video will be added in the next 2 weeks.

CCS, Chris Eden & Frasershot from Frasershot on Vimeo.

We have just finished and edited our behind the scenes video from our recent food photography shoot with new Michelin star chef Chris Eden of the Driftwood Hotel in Cornwall. The project was shot in association with CCS used to promote their range of Crockery. A big shoot that required a huge amount of preparation from all those involved. The Crockery was supplied to both myself and Chris Eden to view and see how we could best represent it in the food photography. Chris custom designed all the relevant dishes to match the crockery and did an absolutely amazing job!

Meanwhile we were going through reclamation yards finding various surfaces to compliment the dishes and the food. We were going on a rustic theme inline with Chris Eden’s Restaurant in Cornwall. We found some amazing textures and old doors etc which you can see in the video which really bring out the texture in the crockery and brings the shots to life.

We used our food development kitchen in Brackley to shoot the whole project offering state of the art equipment and refrigeration units perfect for the food shoots and great space for the photography itself. Please take a look at more of the facility at Studio2 here.

Our client had arranged to have all the relevant crockery and materials brought in especially for the shoot, between us we worked out what was best on the day in terms of what dishes worked with relevant surfaces. As you can see from the video footage we shot all the work on the Hasselblad using mainly the 120mm lens, ensuring we picked up all the relevant details in the products and gave the maximum reproduction values we could. All the lighting was Profoto, mainly soft boxes and grids having to be very delicate not to blow the highlights out of the light tones of the crockery.

A big thank you to Glyn our video specialist at Frasershot who has put together the video which is part one of a series we are producing. The finished pictures will be published shortly and will let you know when they are available to view. Hope you enjoy!

Todays studio shoot was to produce a good solid product shot of this lovely bottle of red wine on a graduated background. Shot using 2 pro boxes and various reflectors of both black and white card, Image has been cleaned of any specs of dust and camera marks, apart from that its straight from camera. The set had to be masked off with an aperture cut out for the camera to avoid reflections of myself and camera in the bottle, we used a simple 2 light setup to avoid throwing too much light around the set-up.

We also used some black perspex for the base to add another dimension to the image rather than putting straight on to the graduated backdrop. Shot on the Canon 1dsmk111 with a 24-70mm lens f18 @1/125th second

This month we were commissioned to produce a range of product photography to support our project on a complete rebrand for a great client we have been working with for over a year now.

The products are exceptional quality and handmade in the UK and the nicest part of this shoot was the background material which is actually owned by HRH Prince Charles.

The leather which is thought to be reindeer was recovered from a shipwreck and remarkably still in tact, thought to be worth a small fortune and purchased by Prince Charles to have some shoes made from. Fantastic colour and texture and obviously was taken straight away from us once we had finished the shots. All shot on the Hasselblad 120mm lens and softbox and 2 x Proboxes by Profoto. I have attached a couple of the shots and one more creative image of a belt which was supported and then cut away in post.

In early September we were sent around Central London producing press photography for the launch of Late Night London’s new website. We were all on board a minibus with the professional dancers, loudspeaker system and ready to jump out at all the big tourist sites and start a pop up party before we got moved on.

Awesome days shooting in the capital and managed to all get thrown out of the square in front of the original Neils Yard! by one very irate shop owner. Everyone else was having great fun and dancing along, there is always one.
